Hundreds of demonstrators are expected to line U.S. Highway 101 in Yachats, Newport and Lincoln City on Saturday as part of a national “No Kings” day of protest and organized locally by chapters of the national Indivisible group.
The last “No Kings” national and local protest was on Trump’s birthday, June 14, when about 5 million people nationwide in more than 2,100 towns and cities protested in a coordinated rally. The “No Kings in America” protests are to show opposition to what the Indivisible group calls the “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration” including attacks on civil rights, immigration crackdowns, cutting of essential services and attacks on free speech.
The protests in Lincoln City and Yachats are scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday; the protest in Newport is 1-3 p.m.
