To celebrate 10 years of bacon, brews and charity, Chinook Winds is hosting the annual Beach, Bacon, and Brewfest in Lincoln City on Saturday, July 12.
In keeping with tradition, the Lincoln City Chamber is assembling and organizing the charity cooking teams.
“The cooking creations are always unique, fun and creative,” said Chamber Director Lori Arce-Torres. “And they continue to evolve and get better over the years.”
Beer connoisseurs can expect to enjoy samples from more than 12 microbrews and ciders, with many breweries returning again to showcase their latest flavors. Thirteen breweries join the festival this year including: Arch Rock, Bend Cider, Blake’s Beverage Co., Breakside, Cascade Lakes, Geloso Beverage Group, Deluxe, Fort George, Good Life, Monkless, Great Frontier Holdings, Pelican Pub and Brewery and Sunriver Brewing.
Several charity cooking teams will be competing and serving bacon bites in all forms.
“The bacon-wrapped shrimp from the Lincoln City Elks is always a favorite,” Arce-Torres said. “I’m happy to report that they will be creating those again this year.”
Groups joining the Lincoln City Elks to compete in the bacon competition and win the ultimate bragging rights of People’s and Judge’s choice champions will be the Oregon State Credit Union raising funds for Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative, Friends of Lincoln City Parks, Salmon River Grange, Oregon Coast Bank raising funds for Backpack for Kids, Figz Dog Rescue, Oceana Family Literacy, Taft Tiger Boosters, the non-competitive Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce team, Samaritan Hospital Foundation and Lincoln City Kiwanis.
“The hospital foundation is one of our new entries,” Arce-Torres said. “They are trying to raise money for an important new machine, which is a great cause.”
Live music will be provided by the bands Tsunami Zone and Huckle Buck.
“The live music adds a ton to how fun the event is,” Arce-Torres said. “Everybody who comes seems to be really enjoying themselves. Plus it raises a lot of money for these non-profits. The swim team even picks up the cans at the end of the day and they get to keep the money from recycling them.”
Ticket prices are $30, which includes $5 in slot pay, five charity food tastings, beer tastings and live music. Designated driver tickets are $20 for everything except the beer tastings.
The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
