NEWPORT – The owner of two recreational businesses in Lincoln City and Pacific City was sentenced June 3 to 41 years in prison after being found guilty in May of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl who volunteered at his businesses.
Daniel Stuebgen, 54, and his ex-wife owned Green Acres Beach & Trail Rides in Pacific City and Happy Trails Feed & Tack in Lincoln City. On May 1, a jury found Stuebgen guilty of multiple counts of sex abuse, rape, sodomy and using a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct.
The trial and sentencing was overseen by Lincoln County Circuit Judge Sheryl Bachart.
In a news release Friday, the Lincoln County district attorney’s office said the case began in August 2023 when the Lincoln City Police Department received a tip from a child abuse hotline concerning a possible sexual relationship between Stuebgen and a child volunteer at his Lincoln City business.
“There is no sentence that I am going to impose today that is going to be proportionate to the harm that your actions inflicted on the victim in this case …” Bachart said at sentencing, according to the news release. “This was a vulnerable child, and you exploited those vulnerabilities for a sexual purpose. You were able to get away with it for a very long time. I don’t know how long this would have gone on if she hadn’t found the courage to report. Even when you knew the investigation was pending, you still continued to pursue her.”
