Rallies to protest the Trump Administration will take place in Yachats, Newport, and Lincoln City from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the same time of a Trump-requested military parade in Washington D.C.
The Lincoln County rallies will take place along U.S. Highway 101 near Yachats city hall, Newport city hall and the Lincoln City Cultural Center. There is also a rally planned in Florence.
The rallies are being coordinated by the county chapter of Indivisible Waves, part of the national Indivisible group which is partnering with NoKings.org in a nationwide day of nonviolent rallies.
The military parade in Washington falls on Trump’s birthday and is estimated to cost $45 million to stage.
Here’s what the Washington Post had to say about Saturday’s events:
“In Washington, tanks will roll down the streets, planes will streak overhead and bands will pump out military tunes as soldiers parade before a president who embraces a gilded, muscular form of patriotism — and whose birthday it is. Across the country, demonstrators will flood hundreds of cities and towns, making speeches and holding “No Kings” signs to denounce what they see as President Donald Trump’s authoritarian tactics and disregard for the Constitution.
Saturday will see one of the starkest displays of America’s divisions since Trump took office, as contrasting visions of America unfold in vivid colors on the country’s streets. The confrontation now playing out in Los Angeles is certain to fuel both sides, as some Americans cheer Trump’s strong hand in quashing purported chaos and others decry what they see as his growing embrace of authoritarian tactics.”
Please if your out there ( I most definitely won’t be) stay out of the road way.
