Samaritan Health Services has added three doctors to its clinics in Newport and Lincoln City, but is losing a physician’s assistant in Newport.
Drs. Colette Whitney and Cassie Whittier have joined the Samaritan Health Clinic, which is located on the second floor of Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.
Terry Jones, a physician’s assistant at the clinic, is departing in July, Samaritan announced to his patients in a letter last month.
In a news release, Samaritan said Whitney has a diverse range of clinical interests within family medicine, including lifestyle medicine with a focus on food as medicine, women’s health, sports medicine, and increased use of in-clinic ultrasound for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
Whitney earned an undergraduate degree and her medical education at Duke University. She did her residency at Cascade East Family Practice/OHSU in Klamath Falls.
Samaritan said Whittier’s clinical interests include women’s health, adolescent medicine, sports medicine, diabetes and weight management, and mental health care for anxiety and depression.
Whittier earned an undergraduate degree at Weber State University, completed her medical education at University of Utah and did her residency at McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden, Utah.
Samaritan also announced that Dr. Lynn Athens has joined Samaritan Coastal Clinic in Lincoln City, providing primary care to people of all ages. Athens earned an undergraduate degree at Portland State University, completed her medical education at Michigan State University and did her residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Mich.
Rather odd that they mention the doctors they’re adding and not the ones that are leaving, including mine, who just left for the hospital in Albany.
I would be happy to see Dr. Hoque back in Lincoln County.
