To the editor:
In the midst of an encroaching national dictatorship we, the people of Lincoln County, desperately need to demonstrate solidarity at the local and state level. And yet, we are witnessing what appears to be the implosion of our county government.
Transparency. That was one of the issues on which Casey Miller ran for county commissioner. From the news reports it appears that his repeated requests for having his questions answered have been met with opacity and silence, not transparency. We, as tax-paying citizens of Lincoln County, have questions as well.
Why is it that Commissioner Casey Miller, an elected official, can be exiled from his office by the county counsel and the head of human resources? On whose authority was an investigation ordered on Casey Miller’s behavior?
Why is it that district attorney Jenna Wallace, an elected official, has been the subject of an investigation and on whose authority?
Why not, for transparency sake, order an investigation on the behavior and decisions of the county counsel and human resources director as well?
As voting, taxpaying citizens of Lincoln County, we request — no, we demand — that an independent investigation all the individuals involved in this drama be conducted and transparently reported to the citizens.
