NEWPORT – When you’re filling out your May 20 special election ballot over the next few weeks and come to the Port of Newport board, Bob Dziak of Seal Rock says not to vote for him.
Dziak, Larry Osborne and Curtis Bunch, both of Newport, are on the ballot to fill the two-year unexpired term of Walter Chuck, who was appointed to the Lincoln County commission in February.
But Dziak announced in mid-April that he is withdrawing from the race “due to a recent, serious health issue.”
Dziak, who is a supervisor at NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Lab in Newport, paid for a statement in the Lincoln County voter’s pamphlet. But it was too late to take his name off the ballots mailed Thursday to voters in the Port district.
