Every homeowner knows there’s nothing fun or exciting about maintenance. They also know there’s nothing more critical.

Ignore the upkeep and repair at your own peril. What would have cost only a few hundred dollars will now cost thousands if not tens of thousands. This could have been avoided if only you, or the previous owner, had maintained the upkeep.

Which type of homeowner are we as a community? The one who keeps things in order, or the one who makes our children pay for our shortsightedness?

Lincoln County’s schools are looking at this exact situation. The buildings need upkeep and maintenance. They also require some improvements that will help our educators and students experience 21st Century education. Will we be proactive and keep our schools up-to-date now at lower costs, or will we just kick the problems down the road for the next generation to deal with at much greater expense?

There’s really only one correct answer. And the solution is as simple as a vote.

Be smart, be responsible, vote yes May 20 for our schools. Vote yes on bond renewal measure 21-232. Pay forward now without raising taxes so that our children don’t have to pay much more later.
