LINCOLN CITY – Lincoln City’s city manager Daphnee Legarza is resigning effective June 9.
“We have received a resignation letter from our city manager … and the council needs to start the process of finding an interim city manager,” Mayor Susan Wahlke said at Monday’s city council meeting.

Legarza, who has been the city manager since 2022, is leaving to step out of the workforce to care for family, according to a news release Thursday.
Legarza worked in supervisory and management positions with the city of Las Vegas parks, public works and engineering departments before she joining the Oregon Travel Information Council in 2017.
The council accepted Legarza’s resignation during its meeting Monday and instructed staff to begin recruiting an interim city manager before finding someone to permanently fill the position.
The process of finding a city manager took about a year last time but was slowed because of a mayoral vacancy. But staff anticipated the process would move a lot quicker this time, said human resources director Abigail Edwards.
Lincoln City is requesting letters of interest for the interim position by 5 p.m. April 25 and hopes to have someone start in early to mid-June.
