Lincoln County opens applications for $130,000 in economic development grants

Lincoln County has opened applications for $130,000 as part of its 2024-25 community and economic development grant program.

With a variety of conditions, applications are open from local governments and nonprofit organizations in the county. Applications are also accepted from public-private partnerships with the fiscal agent being a nonprofit or municipal organization.

To maximize applicant and project diversity, the county said an applicant can only be awarded a grant every other year. Nonprofit organizations that receive direct, budgeted funding from Lincoln County are not eligible for this grant program.

Of the $130,000 available for grants, one $60,000 grant will go to a project that has a demonstrated high impact and need in the county. The remaining $70,000 will be awarded to smaller community and economic development projects with a maximum of $15,000 per award, the county said in announcing the opening of applications.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18. To help applicants with the application, the staff of the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County will hold a grant workshop via Zoom at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4.

To learn more about the program, go to the county’s grant webpage or EDALC’s grant webpage.  Online registration for the workshop is here.

The board of the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County will review and make recommendations to county commissioners, who make the final determination on awards.

The money comes from the Oregon Lottery based on the play of video lottery in the county.

Last year’s grants were awarded to the city of Siletz’s playground project, Habitat for Humanity’s Waldport housing project, Lincoln City’s accessible playground, Lincoln City Cultural Center’s farmer’s market revitalization, Logsden Community Club’s commercial kitchen, Newport Pride’s weekend, and the Rotary Club of Newport’s eco-friendly visitors project.

The large impact grant was awarded to Pioneer Telephone Cooperative’s broadband project for 20 percent of the engineering work required to bring fiber internet to 400 locations in Lincoln County.
