Looking for a fun Mother’s Day weekend activity that can also help those in need? The annual fundraiser for Food Share of Lincoln County has thousands of second-hand jewelry for sale.
The 15th annual “BeJeweled” second-hand jewelry sale, the annual fundraiser for Food Share of Lincoln County, is taking place Saturday, May 11, at Central Coast Assembly Church in Newport.
The sale is made possible by donations of second-hand jewelry by community members, both locally and from afar. Food Share has received donations from as far away as New York, Pennsylvania and Montana.
“We think this is the largest second-hand jewelry sale in Oregon,” said the Nancy Mitchell, the organization’s executive director. “We literally have thousands of pieces of jewelry for sale. All styles, all types, all eras. Everything from highly collectable vintage Trifari designs to sterling silver earrings, everyday wear and everything in between.”
All proceeds from the sale benefit programs to eliminate hunger through a network of partner agencies such as food pantries, meal sites, backpack programs, senior outreach and youth programs.
Food Share of Lincoln County serves more than 1,600 families and 4,000 individuals per month and annually distributes more than a million pounds of food and four million meals a year.
The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Central Coast Assembly Church, 236 N.E. Sixth St., Newport. For more information, go to foodsharelc.org or call 541-265-8578.
