Narrative Summary
On 9/14/22 at approximately 235PM I received contact from an off-duty OSP Trooper regarding a reckless driving incident nearly causing a crash with a semi-truck near Ellmaker State Park on Highway 20, Lincoln County Oregon. Subject vehicle was described as a damaged Honda sedan. I located the vehicle in Newport, Oregon. Upon contact, the driver displayed multiple signs of impairment. After performing field sobriety tests the driver was arrested and charged with DUI – controlled substance, and misdemeanor driving suspended. A search of the vehicle yielded multiple glass pipes with burned residue and burnt foil used for inhaling substances. Vehicle was impounded and towed by Coast Towing. Driver provided a breath sample measuring a .00% BAC and was evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

ECrash Only – The Oregon State Police responded to a non-injury crash involving a gray Range Rover and a grey Chevy Colorado that was towing a small utility trailer. The Range Rover was stopped to make a left turn off the highway and the Chevy Colorado rear ended the Range Rover. The driver of the Chevy claimed they saw the Range Rover stopping but the brakes on their truck did not engage when they tried to slow down. The Range Rover sustained moderate rear-end damage and was able to drive from the scene. The Chevy sustained heavy front end damage and was towed by Coast Towing.
