YACHATS — The Yachats Big Band returns at 7 p.m. Thursday for its monthly performance and dance in the multipurpose room of the Yachats Commons.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Coffee and light refreshments will be available.
The band will perform a number of tunes from the Swing Era through modern tunes. The eclectic playlist includes a Country/Western piece or two, along with a polka medley and several ballads by vocalists Akia Woods and Rich Forster.
The Yachats Big Band is composed of both amateur and professional musicians from the central Oregon coast and Willamette Valley. The band hosts a dance on the first Thursday of every month at the Yachats Commons.
The band is currently seeking alto, tenor and baritone saxophone players. If you are a saxophone player, have your own instrument, can read music and are interesting in joining the band, contact Pete Lawson at pete.lawson@peak.org.
