NEWPORT — Samaritan Health Services’ occupational medicine clinic and walk-in clinic will close the weekend of Dec. 3-5 as they move into a newly remodeled building at 705 S.W. Coast Highway.
During the move, it will be necessary to close both clinics temporarily, including:
- Samaritan Walk-In Clinic will close at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6. Regular clinic hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sundays.
- Samaritan Occupational Medicine will be closed all day Friday, Dec. 3 and reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. Regular clinic hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
Located directly north of the Center for Health Education, the new clinic building had most recently been occupied by Samaritan Medical Supplies, which relocated earlier this year to a remodeled retail space at 2035 N. Coast Highway.
The total price for the two projects was close to $2.4 million, with funding coming from a variety of sources: A $1.75 million loan from Pacific Communities Health District to Samaritan Health Services that will be paid back over 10 years; $445,000 in cash from Samaritan Health Services; and $200,000 from the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation.
This figure doesn’t include the cost of the building/property bought by the health district for just under $1 million.
The two clinics had previously been located inside the hospital but during the recent expansion project, they were relocated to a modular building just outside of the old hospital’s emergency room. Before that portion of the building was demolished, the modular and its two clinics were again relocated, to the south side of the Center for Health Education.
“I appreciate the patience and resiliency of these clinic staff members who were impacted by not one, but two moves over the past few years,” said Dr. Lesley Ogden, CEO of Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
In conjunction with the move, the two clinics will begin using their new official names while retaining their existing phone numbers. They are: Samaritan Medical Group Urgent Care – Newport at 541-574-4860, and Samaritan Medical Group Occupational Medicine – Newport at 541-574-4675.
