I located the subject of a driving complaint on US-101 near milepost 118 and stopped it for speeding. An investigation revealed the operator was impaired. The operator was arrested and transported to the Lincoln City PD where he provided a breath sample of BAC .00% and provided a urine specimen. No DRE was available for an evaluation. The driver was cited and released from the PD.

Narrative Summary
A semi-truck and empty trailer was driving southbound up Cascade Head when the driver observed smoke coming into the cab. The driver pulled over partially blocking one of the two southbound lanes. The truck tractor caught fire and was burned down. Oils and gas were across the road and had to be cleaned prior to reopening the highway. Burden’s Towing from Tillamook helped remove the truck. ODOT Incident Response and ODOT Maintenance was on-scene. US Department of Forestry, Nestucca Fire Department, and North Lincoln Fire Department were on-scene.

On 7/16/21 at approximately 1:30PM I stopped a vehicle for switched plates. The driver was found to be driving suspended violation. Vehicle had no insurance and was impounded and towed by Rowley’s Towing. Female passenger left on foot. Driver was taken into custody for a parole warrant. Jail would not lodge subject. Subject was released and advised to go visit his probation officer.

Narrative Summary
E-Crash: A four vehicle crash occurred at US-101 and Wesler Street in Gleneden Beach. A northbound Toyota Tacoma was taking a left turn in front of a southbound travelling Chevy Equinox, stopped partially in the southbound lane, where the driver of the Chevy swerved to the right to avoid a head-on. At the stop sign on Wesler Street a Honda CRV was waiting and was then struck by the Chevy which then in turn, the Dodge Caravan waiting behind the Honda, was struck by the Honda. Only reported injuries were minor injuries to the driver of the Chevy. The Chevy and the Honda were towed by Car Care Towing. The driver of the Toyota was issued a citation for dangerous left turn.

On 7/17/21 at approximately 5PM I attempted to stop a vehicle for a prior hit and run and expired registration. Driver of the vehicle eluded and crashed into trees near the end of NW 58th St, Newport, Oregon. Driver fled on foot and female passenger remained on scene. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Newport PD assisted in a search of the area. Driver was not located. Vehicle was impounded and towed to Newport OSP office by Rowley’s Towing.
