Narrative Summary
On 3/3/21 at approximately 4:14 pm I responded to a driving complaint in the Waldport area involving a white Ford Explorer (537BMR). I located the described vehicle parked in the Keady Wayside parking lot. After observing the vehicle for a short time it went mobile in the parking lot and drove over a curb and nearly onto the seawall. I conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle in the parking lot. I recognized the vehicle and driver as the suspect in a DUII investigation conducted by Newport Police Department approximately 18 hours earlier, where the driver was taken into custody for DUII. The driver was visibly intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol. There were open containers of alcohol in plain sight in the vehicle. The driver refused to perform SFST’s but admitted freely he was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to a breath test rendering a result of .26% BAC. The driver was lodged in Lincoln County Jail on charges of DUII – Alcohol and Reckless Driving. He was also charged with the violations of Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured, Open Container of Alcohol and Failing to Install and Ignition Interlock Device. The vehicle was impounded.
