Narrative Summary
On 12/2/20 at approximately 7:50AM a driver in a westbound vehicle, crossed the centerline and drove down the embankment of the eastbound shoulder, and crashed head-on into a tree near milepost 23 of Highway 34 near Tidewater, Oregon. The driver fled the scene. Witnesses reported the driver was intoxicated, barefoot, and bleeding from the head. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies and OSP Trooper searched the area in subfreezing temperature. It was reported later passers-by provided transportation to the fleeing driver. Driver facing criminal charges of reckless driving, offensive littering and depositing trash near waterway. Central Coast Fire assisted at the scene.

Log Only: Near milepost 8 on SR-18 the mentioned Ford Escort was found off the westbound shoulder. Minor damage occurred to the Ford. The owner was contacted on the telephone and we spoke about suspicious activity. The owner said he was going to make arrangements for the Ford to be pulled out. The Ford was tagged and can be towed Friday morning if not removed.
