E-crash only: A two-vehicle non-injury crash occurred on US-101 near milepost 126 when Unit #1, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra failed to stop before rear ending Unit #2, a 2015 Subaru Forester, which was stopped for traffic ahead. The operator of Hyundai admitted to looking down while changing music on her cellphone and when she looked up couldn’t stop before rear ending Subaru. Both vehicles were towed from the roadway due to damage by CAR CARE towing. The operator of Hyundai was issued a citation for using a mobile communications device while driving.

On 11/28/2020 at approximately 12PM a northbound vehicle slid into the southbound lanes of 229 near milepost 25 and rotated. The vehicle struck the guardrail on the southbound shoulder. Airbags deployed. The driver told a passerby “just another drunk driver” when he was asked what happened. Driver then fled the scene. Driver was not located after a search of the area and contact at his residence. Driver will be charged with reckless driving and failure to perform duties of a driver in a crash involving property damage. ODOT assisted at the scene to assess guardrail damage. Toledo PD and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

On 11/28/2020 at approximately 5:31 PM, I was in uniform driving a marked patrol car traveling eastbound on US-20 near milepost 3. This is a public roadway in the county of Lincoln, Oregon. I observed a dark gray SUV crossing over the fog line and center line while traveling east on US-20. I stopped the vehicle near milepost 3.5 and contacted the driver. He told me he was unfamiliar with the area and it was foggy. When I observed him crossing over both lines, there was minimum fog in the area. He told me he didn’t have an Oregon driver’s license but he did provide me with a California driver’s license. When I checked his credentials through LEDS/DMV, I found he was suspended violation level in Oregon, and he had an active warrant for his arrest out of Philomath for contempt of court. NCC called and confirmed the warrant was still active. He was cited and released. The warrant number is 20-W139.
