Narrative Summary
On 6/22/20 at approximately 4:19 pm Oregon State Police investigated a single vehicle crash which occurred on US 101 near mile post 162. A silver Nissan Frontier (974DSE) was northbound when the vehicle drifted across the southbound lane and crashed into a roadside ditch. The driver was interviewed by police at the scene prior to being transported for injuries. During the interview the driver exhibited signs of impairment. During the crash investigation several containers of alcohol were located in the vehicle. Police interviewed the driver again at Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence. The driver consented to a modified battery of SFST’s and performed poorly. The driver admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the crash and using prescription medication which warned against mixing with alcohol. The driver consented to provided blood and urine samples to be tested for presence of alcohol and controlled substances. The hospital confirmed a blood test showed the driver had a BAC of .116%. The driver was cited and released to the care of the hospital on charges of DUII and Reckless Driving.

Traffic Crimes – All Except DUII

Narrative Summary
On 6/23/2020 OSP initiated a traffic stop on a 2000 red Ford Focus that failed to stop at a stop sign on NE Commercial St in Waldport, OR 97394. OSP contacted the driver, gave reason for the stop, and told them they were being recorded. The driver was unaware that they did not stop. The driver did not have a license on her, but provided a name and date of birth. The driver mentioned that she shouldn’t be driving, and she was worried about going to jail. OSP discovered through LEDS/DMV check, that the driver was suspended misdemeanor level. OSP confirmed the identity of the driver with the DMV photo attached to the Driver’s record. The driver was warned for the fail to obey a traffic control device, and cited for driving without insurance. She was also issued a criminal citation for DWS-Misdemeanor. The car had two other occupants, including one child. The vehicle was not blocking the roadway, and was safely parked alongside the curb. OSP did not tow the vehicle.
